STORYLINE:
Australian citizens in Hong Kong came to the Australian Consulate-General to cast their votes on Friday morning.
The Hong Kong Australian Consulate-General’s Overseas Voting Center is open from April 28 until May 3 – the election day.
Sally Shum lives in Melbourne but is traveling to Hong Kong to visit her family. She hopes the future government would look after elderly people like her, who is in her 80s.
Kevin Lam is an Australian citizen based in neighboring Macao. He travelled to Hong Kong to vote Friday morning. He said he thinks it is important for the future government to focus on the economy.
According to the Australian government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website, Hong Kong is home to one of the largest Australian communities abroad. Around 100,000 Australians reside in Hong Kong.
