STORYLINE:
A powerful sandstorm hit the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Sunday, covering buildings and obstructing visibility, forcing many residents to stay indoors.
The storm swept through the capital with thick clouds of dust, reducing visibility and disrupting daily life in one of the kingdom’s busiest cities, almost hiding its skylines.
The weather system also affected several other regions across Saudi Arabia, including Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, Riyadh, and Al Qassim, where dust-raising winds were reported.
Earlier, the Saudi National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had warned that parts of Al Qassim would face active winds and near-zero visibility, urging the public to monitor alerts and follow safety guidelines.
The Road Safety Authority and Saudi Highway Security also issued advisories, warning motorists to drive with caution due to the hazardous conditions
