"What is happening in Nur Shams camp is a crime committed by the occupation. This occupation has expanded its military operations, previously destroying approximately 120 homes. Now, it has issued a demolition order for 19… 16 more homes within the camp. To note, the camp has been subjected to 64 incursions since Oct. 7 (2023), resulting in the destruction of 276 homes and commercial shops, as well as private and commercial vehicles."

"We had expected that during this period the military operations in Nur Shams camp would have ended (by now). However, we were surprised by a new plan and map from the Israeli army, which involves notifying of the demolition of 48 buildings. Forty-eight buildings within the Nur Shams camp which is packed with residents, 48 buildings that consist of 4, 5 or 6 apartments, each. Moreover, there are homes that get destroyed as the occupation’s bulldozers reach these buildings (that are marked for demolition), so there will be indiscriminate destruction."

STORYLINE:
Palestinians piled mattresses and linens onto their cars and drove away from their homes in the Nur Shams refugee camp in the Israeli-occupied West Bank Tuesday, before the planned Israeli demolition of their homes.
Israel is demolishing over 100 structures across Nur Shams and Tulkarem, another West Bank refugee camp, as part of its largescale military raid on the north of the territory, which it says aims to target militancy.
Nihad al Shawish, head of the popular committee in Nur Shams refugee camp, said that 120 homes in Nur Shams have already been destroyed and around 20 were set to be demolished Tuesday.
Palestinians say the home demolitions are collective punishment and destroy civilian homes and infrastructure in the camp.
"There are homes that get destroyed as the occupation’s bulldozers reach these buildings (that are marked for demolition), so there will be indiscriminate destruction," said said Nihaya al-Jundi, a Palestinian displaced from Nur Shams refugee camp.
The Israeli military has been carrying out an operation in the West Bank over the past several months that displaced, at its height, approximately 40,000 Palestinians.
It had emptied and largely destroyed several urban refugee camps in the northern West Bank, like Tulkarem and Nur Shams, that housed the descendants of Palestinians who fled or were driven from their homes in previous wars.
Thatโs the largest displacement in the West Bank since Israel captured the territory in the 1967 Mideast war.
