"The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is an event aimed at raising awareness about men’s health, with a focus on prostate cancer and suicide due to depression. These are the leading causes of death among men, even more than accidents. Every minute, a man takes his own life somewhere in the world. What we are trying to do with this event, which has been held for 14 years globally, is to bring visibility to these issues in order to motivate preventive actions and ultimately reduce the rates of suicide and, above all, deaths caused by prostate cancer."

"I come practically every year. I think this is the third or fourth year I’ve come. It’s very interesting, we meet with lots of friends, then the talk they’re going to give in a little while about mental illness and prostate cancer—it’s very interesting, it’s something that raises awareness. Honestly, this is helpful."

STORYLINE:
Motorcycle riders added their own flair to their Sunday best as they participated in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in Buenos Aires to raise awareness about men’s health issues.
The recurring themes of the classic buttoned jacket, handkerchief or bowtie, and helmet gave the participants a polished yet safe look as they rode through areas of Buenos Aires.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a global urban motorcycling event celebrated on May 18 in more than 1,000 cities around the world, and the organizers of the Buenos Aires event hosted it a week earlier so as not to conflict with local elections.
Its mission is to raise awareness about two critical men’s health issues: prostate cancer and mental health, particularly suicide caused by depression.
“Every minute, a man takes his own life somewhere in the world. What we are trying to do with this event, which has been held for 14 years globally, is to bring visibility to these issues in order to motivate preventive actions and ultimately reduce the rates of suicide and, above all, deaths caused by prostate cancer,” said Fernando Marsan, Argentina host for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride event.
The idea is for riders dressed in elegant, classic attire that sparks curiosity and conversations around these often-overlooked health concerns.
On Sunday, some 2,262 motorcyclists registered to the event and rode through the streets in style, aligning with the event’s distinctive aesthetic to draw attention and foster dialogue.
Motorbikes were divided into classic and modern models, and most people came dressed stylishly.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa.
