What struck me is that you really always have to practice and remember that he is now the Pope, because he puts you at ease and has this closeness that always impresses me. I was always impressed even when he was the General Prior and he maintained the same style as a cardinal. And today as Pope, we were at the table, we shared stories, talked a bit, and he was with some brothers. This made me very happy and made us feel at ease."

STORYLINE:
Pope Leo XIV has met with members of the Augustinian religious order during a visit to the congregation’s headquarters outside St. Peter’s Square.
Leo was seen exiting a black vehicle on Tuesday in the driveway of the Agostinianum.
The pontifical institute serves as the Rome-based residence and headquarters of the Order of St. Augustine.
The former Rev. Robert Prevost was twice elected superior of the order which was formed in the 13th century as a community of “mendicant” friars.
It’s dedicated to poverty, service and evangelization.
Leo has affirmed he is a “son of St. Augustine” ever since his May 8 election.
