Polls have closed in Romania’s high stakes presidential election with both candidates claiming victory. Exit polls show pro-EU Nicosur Dan ahead of his far-right nationalist rival George Simion with more than half of the votes counted. In a speech, Dan said Romanian society had shown "impressive strength" but warned that hard economic times lie ahead. Simion rejected the exit poll results, saying his victory was clear.
