"I’ve been cooking for people for a year and eight months now, but there is real famine over the past three months. The famine that happened at the beginning of the war, we are suffering from it again now. I used to get support that would accommodate around 10 to 20 people, but today it’s a high number of people (needing food)."

"I come here from 9 am, I swear from 9 am. And I went home yesterday without food and today I’m going home without food. It’s crowded. Everyone is hungry. I’m not blaming people because everyone is hungry and wants to feed their children. I have a family of 20 people. I have a three-year-old child who’s crying all day because he wants to eat. Isn’t it a shame on them? We want them to stop the war and to allow food in. We want a solution instead of the misery we’re in. We’re tired of this, exhausted from coming to charity kitchens and people pushing each other. We’re not living like normal people. You can’t sleep in your home or even outside or move. They have even forbidden us from food."

STORYLINE:
Dozens of Palestinians lined up outside a soup kitchen set up amid piles of rubble in northern Gaza in a desperate attempt to obtain food, as Israel’s aid blockade entered its third month.
At the charity kitchen in Beit Lahiya, the hungry crowd of men, women and children jostled for position, holding out empty pots and plastic containers high in the air for a few ladles of watery vegetable soup.
Displaced woman Um Abed, who has 20 family members, said she waited in line from 9 a.m. and went home empty handed for the second day in a row as the number of people far exceeded the available food.
She cried and yelled as she held up her empty pot to the camera.
"We’re tired of this. Exhausted from coming to charity kitchens and people pushing each other. We’re not living like normal people. You can’t sleep in your home or even outside or move. They have even forbidden us from food,” she said, as several children stood nearby, their faces streaked with tears.
At one point, children behind a metal partition screamed and cried out for food, as the kitchen’s four large pots stood empty.
Faten Al-Madhoun, owner of the food distribution charity, said the famine conditions seen near the beginning of the war have begun to return in the past three monts.
Israel’s offensive has obliterated vast swathes of Gaza’s urban landscape and displaced 90% of the population, often multiple times.
It halted the entry of all aid, including food and medication, into the territory on March 2, and international food security experts have warned that Gaza will likely fall into famine if Israel doesn’t lift its blockade and stop its military campaign.
Israel vehemently denies accusations that it is committing genocide in Gaza.
