International criticism is growing over Israel’s military actions and restrictions on humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. On Tuesday, the UK announced it was pausing trade talks with Israel, pointing to what it called the ‘egregious’ policies of Israel’s government. In Brussels, the EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated that the bloc would review the EU-Israel Association Agreement, a free trade pact with Israel, calling the country’s blockade of Gaza "catastrophic." The Israeli Foreign Ministry has rejected her statement, saying it reflects "a total misunderstanding of the complex reality Israel is facing." Despite the Israeli government’s decision to allow a small number of aid trucks to enter Gaza after an 11-week blockade, the UN has said the aid has yet to be fully distributed to Palestinians.
