Two Israeli embassy staffers shot dead near Jewish Museum in Washington, DC | DW News

We begin with some breaking news coming in from Washington D.C, where two staff members of the Israeli embassy have been shot dead. US President Donald Trump has condemned the killings as horrible and antisemitic.

The shooting took place on the street in front of the Capital Jewish Museum. A 30-year old suspect has been arrested. Police said the man chanted "Free, free Palestine" while being taken into custody. The Israeli embassy said the victims were a young couple who were planning to marry. They were departing an event at the museum when the suspect approached them and opened fire with a handgun.
