There’s anger in South Africa over Donald Trump’s confrontation with President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House.
The US leader falsely accused President Ramaphosa of failing to prevent the persecution of white farmers in South Africa, and made baseless claims that farmers face genocide.
Trump showed videos and articles, saying they backed up his allegations. Ramphosa denied there’s any targeted violence against white farmers, saying deaths are due to high levels of criminality in South Africa. He remained calm throughout the meeting.
DW asked people in Johannesburg how they feel about the confrontation.
