1. 00:00 SOUNDBITE (English): Mason Mount, Manchester United player:
(On the difference between the form in the league and form in Europe)
“As a group, we always try to block out the noise. I think, as group, we know the situation we’re in. We know the league (form) is not good enough, and we haven’t been good enough in that. But the Europa League is something that we look forward to as a final, and we want to win that final. It’s a trophy, and it’s Champions League football for next season. So, as I said, we’ll do everything in our power to win the game. We won’t forget about what we did in the league or our league form, that’s something that we massively need to look at for next season. We know we need to work on that. But yeah, this is a final and if we can win the final, then it can be a positive end to a tough season.”

STORYLINE:
Manchester United have a chance to salvage something from a historically bad league campaign next Wednesday when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final in Bilbao.
Despite languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table with a mammoth record 17 defeats, the ‘Red Devils’ remain unbeaten in Europe and progressed to the final with a 7-1 aggregate demolition of La Liga outfit of Athletic Bilbao.
Midfielder Mason Mount, who has been plagued with injuries since joining United in July 2023, scored two late goals at Old Trafford to ensure his side’s progression to the final against Spurs.
With a chance to now secure Champions League football for next season via the back door of winning the Europa League – despite the dismal league campaign – Mount has assured fans that the side are up the fight.
“We want to win finals and we want to win finals as a group,” he said, speaking ahead of Wednesday’s crunch clash.
“We know the league (form) is not good enough, and we haven’t been good enough in that.
