"Well I think for a lot of people they are diagnosed and then they know kind of the path of what’s going through. For me I had melanoma on my back and then I thought I was done and then all of a sudden I was working at the Super Bowl and I felt really sick and when I got home I went to the hospital and that’s when they found, I think it was eight plum size melanoma brain tumors in my brain, and then I also had two tumors in my lungs. So it was a complete shock to all of us. I had kind of always thought that melanoma remained on your skin. And I was like, Oh, I’ve had 16 surgeries there, I get checks every three months, I’m good to go. So I think the surprise element really added to it. So, I didn’t want anybody else to be surprised. I’d had headaches for months. And I’m so glad that like finally I trusted my instincts because forever I was like… It’s just a headache, I’ll get through it. I heard that people get migraines as they get older, maybe that’s what’s going on with me."

"The highs and the lows, whether it’s through whatever kind of therapy you’re going through, like I’m in immunotherapy, I did radiation, some people are in chemo, but I think it’s hard. And you know, there’s certain things that people say that I wanna be like, okay, don’t say that, don’t do that. Let’s work through the positive. It’s not ‘how are we feeling.’ It’s just ‘checking in with you, thinking about you.’ You know, those small little edits when you’re feeling your worst mean a lot."

"I’m inspired by him in so many different ways, not just by the way he plays music or the way that he writes songs, but like how much he touches people. He’s really shown me his endurance and his way to really support his family throughout these last couple months for me. And I’m just so beyond grateful for him. I couldn’t imagine not being here to support him."

STORYLINE:
Teddi Mellencamp says her recent stage 4 cancer diagnosis came as "a complete shock."
The podcast host, former reality TV star and daughter of singer-songwriter John Mellencamp walked the red carpet in support of her father at the Grammy Hall of Fame gala in Los Angeles.
In February, Mellencamp was diagnosed with cancer that had spread to her brain and lungs. She immediately underwent surgery.
"I went to the hospital and that’s when they found eight plum size melanoma brain tumors in my brain, and then I also had two tumors in my lungs. So it was a complete shock to all of us," she said at the event.
Known for her role on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," Mellencamp emphasized the importance of proactive health screenings, reflecting on how she initially downplayed her symptoms: "I’m so glad that finally I trusted my instincts because forever I was like… It’s just a headache, I’ll get through it. I heard that people get migraines as they get older, maybe that’s what’s going on with me."
She also expressed gratitude for her famous father’s support as a source of strength. "He’s really shown me his endurance and his way to really support his family throughout these last couple months for me."
Mellencamp says her doctors say she is responding well to treatment and believe she will make a full recovery.
