STORYLINE:
An official welcoming ceremony was held for visiting French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Macrons arrived in Jakarta on earlier on Wednesday to begin their state visit to Indonesia.
Macron met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, which was followed by a lunch with Indonesian investors and CEOs to discuss projects in France.
Macron is also scheduled to give a speech about Ukraine and the Middle East to students at the National University of Jakarta.
Besides his one-day visit to Jakarta, Macron also plans to visit the ASEAN Secretariat in the afternoon before concluding his Jakarta visit with a state dinner.
On the second day of the visit, Macron will visit the military academy in Magelang and the Borobudur Buddhist Temple to demonstrate France’s commitment to supporting Indonesian heritage preservation before departing for Singapore to attend the Shangri-La Dialogue.
