STORYLINE:
Several unions representing thousands of workers in New York City rallied at City Hall in solidarity with demonstrators in Los Angeles and to call for the release of David Huerta, president of @SEIU California
Huerta, a California union leader, has been charged with conspiring to impede an officer during a demonstration over President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
Huerta is president of Service Employees International Union California.
The SEIU was holding a rally in downtown Los Angeles on Monday to show support for Huerta. Huerta was arrested Friday outside a business where law enforcement officers were executing a federal search warrant related to immigration.
