"The attack was massive. Seven out of 10 districts were damaged. We had a big fire in Obolonskyi and Podilia districts. Now the localization is going on. We have damage to a residential 25-storey building in the Obolonskyi district. There was a fire in the apartment on 15 square meters. We also have damage at the 16-storey residential building in the Solomyans’kyi district. There was damage to a technical floor. Fortunately, no one was injured there. In general, four people were injured in Kyiv – two are in the hospital, two were released home."

6. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Anastasiia Nikitova, Student:
"My father is at the frontline so I cannot give up, I cannot be weak, because maybe I feel bad now, but he feels three times worse. I may worry about a car that was damaged by a strike, but he is risking his life there. Tonight, it was very intense. Everything was falling down and shaheed drones were flying and flying, and at one moment something exploded so intensely that I fell. Even now I am in a state of shock. I am smiling sometimes but I see how difficult it is. There are people who have lost their homes. Thank god everyone is alive, but this was a nightmare."

STORYLINE:
Russia attacked two Ukrainian cities with waves of drones and missiles early Tuesday, killing three people and wounding at least 13 in what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called “one of the biggest” strikes in the three-year-old war.

The attack struck Kyiv and the southern port city of Odesa.

In an online statement, Zelenskyy said Moscow’s forces fired over 315 drones – most of them Shaheds – and seven missiles overnight.

“Russian missile and Shahed strikes are louder than the efforts of the United States and others around the world to force Russia into peace,” Zelenskyy wrote, urging “concrete action” from the US and Europe in response to the attack.

One person was killed in Kyiv’s Obolon district, regional head Tymur Tkachenko wrote on Telegram.
