STORYLINE:
Indonesia strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Iran Friday.
The Indonesian foreign minister, Sugiono, said that there "will be implications if some parties cannot restrain themselves", warning that failure to do so would "worsen the situation".
In a written statement, the ministry urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid any actions that could heighten tensions or destabilize the region.
Israel attacked Iran’s capital early Friday, in strikes that targeted the country’s nuclear program and raised the potential for a larger war between the two bitter adversaries.
Indonesia reiterated that all nations are obligated to resolve disputes peacefully, in line with international law.
The Indonesian government is currently in contact with Indonesian citizens in Iran to find out their condition and safety.
