“The president put out on his social media that the U.S. knows where the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei is in hiding, but they’re not going to kill him, at least at the moment. It seems to be, it could be read, I think, in one way as a last attempt to get him to accept a negotiated solution. But the problem with that is that he has continually rejected the demands that, or has continually refused to make the concessions, that would satisfy both the United States and Israel. And so, it’s, I don’t know that it’s an empty threat, but it’s certainly a powerful one and one that is designed to strengthen an already strong hand that the U.S. has, now that the Israelis have taken it upon themselves to go in and hit these nuclear sites. So again, we’ll just have to wait and see what emerges from this meeting at the White House, but certainly the rhetoric has amped up in the last 24 hours and doesn’t appear to be letting up.”

STORYLINE:
President Donald Trump says the U.S. knows where Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is hiding during the Israel-Iran conflict but doesn’t want him killed “for now.”
Trump on Tuesday urged Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” as the five-day conflict escalates.
Associated Press reporter Matthew Lee says that the move could be an effort to get Khamenei to negotiate.
“I don’t know that it’s an empty threat, but it’s certainly a powerful one and one that is designed to strengthen an already strong hand that the U.S. has now that the Israelis have taken it upon themselves to go in and hit these nuclear sites,” Lee said.
