"There was chaos in Pakistan, like everyday bomb blasting and stuff, firing and stuff like that. So I was mixed in in this kind of stuff. So it was, the trip was nothing that difficult. I was pretty young also, like maybe 17 or maybe something like that, 16 or something. So, yeah, that didn’t feel that much difficult and life-threatening."

"Then the borders were open. So like, it was pretty easy for the refugees to move around. I had a chance to move around also, but I didn’t know where to go, what to do, so, I was pretty lost. But, so I just, I found a job and I stayed. And, now, I think it’s very difficult. The borders are closed and the asylum system is very hard."

"The hard part was when there were shipwrecks, when we were collecting the babies who had drowned, when you saved the mother and the baby drowned, when the baby drowned and you saved the mother. And you would come back here and the mother would say to you, ‘Why did you save me and let my baby drown?’ Thousands, thousands have drowned.”
