“The model being replicated is not only seen at the Latin American level; it’s visible all the way up to the United States. What’s happening is a global phenomenon. STORYLINE:
Thousands of people marched through the streets of Santiago on Saturday during the 25th Pride March.

The event was organized by the Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation and the Equals Foundation.

The central theme of the march was opposition to hate speech, particularly targeting trans individuals.

Participants also encouraged voters to support presidential candidates who have stated they will not reverse existing human rights protections for sexual and gender minorities.

"What’s happening is a global phenomenon. We have Argentina right next door, where they openly express their lack of respect for any kind of diversity. If the right-wing, which is currently trying to assert itself, is going to follow that same path, we, who are a minority, cannot support that option," said parade participant Bruno Iturra.

According to the organizers, reports of homo- and transphobic incidents in Chile increased by 78.7% in 2025, reaching a total of 2,847 cases—the highest number recorded to date.
