There was no weapons and now they are repeating the same crime against Iran. Why? When is it enough? Enough blood, enough killing? When is it enough?"

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of people gathered on Sunday in The Hague to protest against NATO, military spending and against a possible conflict with Iran.

The protest comes two days before a NATO summit in The Hague is seeking to increase allies’ defence budgets.

The Netherlands is hosting the annual meeting of the 32-nation alliance starting on Tuesday, with leaders scheduled to meet on Wednesday.

Although billed as a demonstration against NATO and the war in Gaza, demonstrators were joined by Iranians who held up banners saying “No Iran War,” a day after the US launched attacks against three of Iran’s nuclear sites.

Maliheh Hayati, a protester and ex-political prisoner in Iran, said political prisoners in Iran were at risk.

"We gather together just because we say, at first, no to the Islamic Regime of Iran, and then no to war. No to any war among powers who are looking (out) for their interests," she said.

One Iraqi demonstrator warned that what happened in his country after the US-led invasion could happen in Iran.

"There was no weapons and now they are repeating the same crime against Iran. Why? When is it enough?" he asked.

Several close U.S. allies urged a return to the negotiating table in the wake of American strikes on Iran that fueled fears of a wider conflict, while noting the threat posed by Tehran’s nuclear program.
