There were a flurry of US Supreme Court decisions as it wraps up its latest term. So it’s worth taking a look back in history at a landmark ruling that changed the face of college sports on this day, June 27th, 1984. Two powerhouse football programs, the University of Georgia and Oklahoma, had sued the governing body for college athletics, claiming the NCAA has control over broadcast television rights and its control over how money from those rights was distributed, that that amounted to unfair restraint on free markets.
