(9 Apr 1990) CENTRE-RIGHT DEMOCRATIC FORUM WINS HUNGARIAN ELECTIONS: BUDAPEST
Democratic Forum won a decisive victory in the second round of Hungarys general elections on 8 April. the centre-right party, set up by dissident intelle tuals, was poised to form the countrys first non-communist government in four decades. According to unofficial results, Democratic forum won 1165 of the 386 parliamentary seats at stake over the two rounds. The first round of voting was held on 25 March when 125 seats were contested.
