Israel’s Defense Ministry says it will continue its airstrikes against Syrian government forces in southern Syria until they withdraw from the town of Sweida. Israel has been launching strikes for two days now, saying it aims to protect the Druze religious minority and keep the area close to its own border demilitarized. This comes after clashes between Bedouin tribes and the Druze. On Tuesday, the Syrian government in Damascus sent troops to Sweida ‘to restore order’. But well into the evening, clashes and violence continued.
