Israel’s armed forces have begun a new offensive in the central Gazan city of Dir el-Balah.
Smoke could be seen rising above the Gaza Strip on Monday morning, and Israeli tanks have also been operating in Dir el-Balah. This is the first time tanks have entered the city since the war in Gaza began. Israel’s military believes some of the remaining hostages held by Hamas may be there. The area is also crowded with Palestinians who have fled the fighting.
