STORYLINE:
King Phillipe and Queen Mathilde attended a military parade in Brussels to mark Belgium’s national day on Monday.
The royals were joined by their children for the annual event in the country’s capital.
The parade showcased a variety of military vehicles and was accompanied by army veterans, soldiers on foot and marching bands.
Other street events were also scheduled to be held across the country on Monday, as well as an evening firework display in Brussels.
The national day marks the anniversary of the investiture of King Leopold I as the first King of the Belgians in 1831 after Belgium declared independence from the United Netherlands.
