STORYLINE:
Local residents looked for shade and relief from hot weather as a new heat wave gripped Serbia with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees in the coming days.
The Meteorological Society of Serbia is cautioning people to stay at home and engage in low energy activities when possible.
Most people chose to sit in the shade in local bars and cool down by the fountains.
Scientists warn that climate change is exacerbating the frequency and intensity of heat and dryness in parts of Europe, making the region more vulnerable to wildfires.
