2. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Ruslan Kravchenko, Prosecutor General of Ukraine:
"Today there was a meeting held by President of Ukraine. He gathered all the law enforcement agencies of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, NABU (Anti Corruption Bureau of Ukraine), SAPO (The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office), the prosecutor. We discussed, agreed to work constructively and together, each in its own direction of activity. And no one will interfere with other’s work, because everyone has a sufficient number of criminal proceedings to work on. We have nothing to divide. This is the position of the Prosecutor General."

STORYLINE:
Ukraine’s prosecutor general commented publicly Thursday on the expanded powers granted to his office under a new law passed by parliament and signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During a press briefing, Ruslan Kravchenko said he does not intend to interfere with the independence of existing agencies.
He acknowledged public scrutiny over the reform and pledged to act strictly within legal bounds.
In the morning, Zelenskyy convened the heads of Ukraine’s key anti-corruption and security agencies in response to the outcry against his decision to approve the law that was passed by parliament.
Activists on Wednesday called for more protests of a new law that they say weakens Ukraine’s anti-corruption watchdogs, following the first major anti-government demonstration in over three years of war.
The legislation also has drawn rebukes from European Union officials and international rights groups, as well as putting increased pressure on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and endangering his public support at a critical phase of the war.
