British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the UK will recognise the State of Palestine in September, unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza, among other conditions. Starmer is facing growing pressure from Parliament, the public and his own Labour party over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. His announcement coincides with the release of a UN-backed report that has found ‘mounting evidence of famine and widespread starvation’ in the enclave. We speak to Nomi Bar-Yaacov, peace negotiator with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
