Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera has confirmed that five of its journalists have been killed during an Israeli bombardment of Gaza City. One of the dead includes prominent journalist Anas Al-Sharif. The director of Gaza’s Al Shifa hospital said Al-Sharif was killed along with the other journalists in a tent close to the hospital building. Israel’s military alleged Al-Sharif had been the leader of a Hamas terrorist cell. The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OCHA) said almost 230 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Israeli strikes since October 7, 2023.
