STORYLINE:
Dejected Palestinians reacted to the possible expansion of Israel’s military operations in Gaza on Thursday with uncertainty, sorrow and pessimism.
"We have heard that they want to occupy Gaza, what is left to occupy?" said Maysaa al-Heila, who is displaced from al-Burej.
"They can take whatever is left. We no longer have the patience or endurance,” she added.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been meeting this week with top advisers and security officials to discuss what his office said are ways to “further achieve Israel’s goals in Gaza” after the breakdown of ceasefire talks last month.
In Gaza, Palestinians who have been struggling to survive airstrikes, shootings and a lack of food, follow the news, uncertain of what the future will be.
Asked about the possible expansion of the Israeli presence in Gaza, Farag Abd Rabbu, displaced from Jabaliya, said that Palestinians have already been suffering tremendously, and will continue to do so regardless of the next political actions.
“It no longer makes a difference even if they invaded Gaza in its entirety, nothing will change," he said.
"We are now paying the price….we are desperate and frustrated,” he added.
