“Our relations have developed rapidly, especially in recent years. It makes me happy to give some numbers on how this relationship has developed. The trade between Russia and the United Arab Emirates reached $11.5 billion in 2024. There is also a trade between us and Eurasian countries. The trade reached $30 billion. We will see, God willing, in the next five years, that this number will be doubled, whether in direct relationship between our two countries or with the original countries. I am very happy to be here today.”

STORYLINE:
Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Moscow on Thursday.
Relations with UAE are of special importance for Russia, Putin said.
“it is very important for us to exchange our opinions today on the situation in the region, in the area of international security,” he added.
Shortly after the meeting, Putin said he hoped to meet next week with U.S. President Donald Trump, with the UAE as a possible venue for the meeting, though no location has been confirmed.
The announcement came on the eve of a White House deadline for Moscow to show progress toward ending the 3-year-old conflict in Ukraine.
Trump seeks to broker an end to the fighting in Ukraine.
