STORYLINE:
Hundreds gathered in Istanbul Saturday night to demonstrate in support of Gaza, a day after Israel announced an increase in its offensive with plans to take over Gaza City.
Protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners with slogans against the Israeli attacks in Gaza and in support of the more than two million Palestinians in the Strip.
The demonstration was arranged by several organisations under the Palestine Support Platform.
The protesters called for Israel to be held accountable for the 22 months war that killed over 61,300 people in the enclave, following the Hamas-led attack on 7 October 2023 in Southern Israel, where 1200 were killed and about 250 people were kidnapped.
Some 50 still remain in captivity in Gaza, Israel believe about 20 are still alive.
Bilal Erdogan, son of the Turkish president and head of one of the organizations, was among those who called on people to take the streets of the Turkish capital to protest.
