Trump administration accused of politicizing human rights | DW News

The US State Department’s 2024 human rights report has been scaled back, omitting details of abuses for certain countries. Under the Trump administration, criticism of allies such as El Salvador and Israel has been softened, while scrutiny of Brazil, South Africa, and free speech in Europe has increased. Amnesty International accuses Washington of politicizing the findings, noting the removal of sections on issues such as LGBTQ+ discrimination in some countries.
