"I have a wonderful life today. Like, I have a husband who loves me, I have children who love me, I have lot of support, I do work that I care about. And always in the back of my mind is, ‘I thought this was taken from me, I thought was stolen from me,’ especially, you know, my children, right? Like, I was 22 years old when I was given a 26-year prison sentence. I could do the math. It meant that this journey that I had always wanted to go on to be a mother was stolen from me. And so every single day when I am with my children, I am reminded that this might not have happened. And so I don’t care that if, you know, I’m exhausted and I’m overwhelmed, like this is what life is all about"
