"Well I was on the panel so obviously I was involved in that shortlist and we had a long kind of discussions about who should be there. This award is not about who is the best actor or actress. This award is about who’s on the cusp of making it as a household name, we’re talking about Leo DiCaprio status you know. Al Pacino status. I think that everybody up there on the list is you know on the cusp has the potential to kind of be there. Especially for me Tom Hardy and Aaron Johnson, Gemma Arterton."
"Kind of edge more to Tom Hardy and Aaron Johnson, purely because I’ve seen them in very different roles, each time. Emma Stone certainly deserves to be up there but I’ve kind of always seen her in kind of similar roles. I think that’s what we’re saying this award is, like I said it’s not about who’s the best actor or actress. It is literally, about who’s going to be a household name and that’s why Emma Stone’s up there."
"Time and time again, we are producing great actors man. For me it’s a real country man, we’re a down to earth nation of people on the whole. Which makes us kind of a great breeding ground for actors. A lot of us guys can go over there and do the whole American accent, just as good as the Americans. You look at ‘The Wire’ how many British actors are on that. We’ve kind of taken over, over there. You know, it’s great. So I think anyone who’s up there deserves to be there, their not there for any other reason."
