"What you see like behind me, you’re seeing a let’s say robot that is able to sort different kinds of clothing, such as colours before it goes into the washing machine, it’s able to fill up the dishwasher, doing things that we don’t like to do. And the other part is, we want to let people stay longer at home without being pushed into care. It’s because I feel like I’m safe home, because you have a buddy helping you with all the tasks but at the same time giving you the secureness that if you fall there is somebody that is going to help you or just call 991 (emergency) for you. So this is actually what we’re building, robots which are there to support you, support humanity, make our lives easier."

"The droid is to create higher engagement with humans, so for example customer service, they can interact and tell you about a product, entertainment, we can replicate any look. You can go in and talk to Albert Einstein, or any historical figure, they provide that knowledge. Or companionship for people who are lonely, loneliness is a worldwide epidemic, our robots are able to recognise people, they have infinite patience, and they can talk to you, remember you and keep you company."

"I’m expecting that we will see a lot of that (humanoid robots) at IFA, specially around the Chinese company’s booth because as you might have seen on TikTok or other social media, China it’s all the rage about humanoid robots, there are football championships only played by robots and so on."

21. SOUNDBITE: (English) Andrea Nepori, Technology analyst:
"I definitely think we are not going to see anything commercially viable in terms of humanoid robots or robots that look like us in the next few years. But we’re maybe seeing some of that, Roborock has this a vacuum cleaner with a weird little arm that picks up our socks. I think we can still do that faster and more effectively than a robot, but we’re getting there."

The robots at IFA are getting more realistic and according to the companies that make them, they’re becoming much more useful to have around the home.
Whether it’s sorting through the dirty washing, or just being there to have a chat, they say there’s a robot to suit everyone.
