A woman identified as 76-year-old Kathleen Schuman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon after firing a flare gun at her neighbor. The elderly man retaliated, attacking her and slamming her to the ground. Flare guns are used to signal an emergency but can do serious damage. The man who was hit suffered a burn to his face. Schuman was shackled for her first court appearance. She pled not guilty and has been released on $5,000 bond.
