"Really is a career highlight because I don’t usually get to do comedies and so this to get this recognition is hugely gratifying and fun. And I just am like pinching myself. To be the first one like I feel like that was a little intense not going to lie that was like— I was not ready to go up there. I did not write a thorough speech and then that like 30 second window seems really short But, anyway, I’m so happy. It’s definitely going to color the night."
(Reporter: "There is still the second, the second nomination as well.")
"I don’t think that’s going to happen, that’s fine, but it’ll be so fun because their whole cast will be there, the show’s nominated, so it’ll just be a way to all come together and support the work we did last year."
(Reporter: "And how would you define a moment like this tonight?")
"Well, it’s a very special moment because my dad is my date tonight, so that feels really special. That almost made me just like have a little moment in a way that I haven’t been able to because it’s like … It feels like a validation of decades of work. When doors are closing and the phone’s not ringing and you just have to keep going, you find it in yourself. So, it feels like, yeah, you were right. Like you can keep doing this, so long may it last."
(Reporter: "Could we see, do you think we’ll see more comedy moving forward now?")
"I really hope so, but I don’t know. We’ll see. We will see."
(Reporter: Do you feel like you have more confidence in that genre now?)
"Yeah, I feel like f***ing man, if I, what do I gotta do? Yes."

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Shawn Hatosy, actor:
"Ron Howard up there, like, you know, somebody that I’ve spent, you know, my whole life watching from television to his films. I mean, it was, you know, I’m still processing what happened. It was a lot of emotion, but it feels great. I’m thrilled to be here."
(Reporter: "Especially for this role, what does it mean to you?")
"I love this show, I love his character. I feel like he’s landing, he has a presence in the ER that is just calm and steady. And it means a lot to me because I just wanna keep doing it. I wanna do as many of them as I can."
(Reporter: "And you thanked a lot of people up on that stage tonight. I’m curious, who are some of those people early on in your career that you really look to as mentors that you want to thank for this win tonight?")
"Yeah, there’s no question. My high school theater teacher, Carl Frendel, was somebody who I met when I was in ninth grade and just started teaching us a style of theater that I had never—I mean, I’m from Frederick, Maryland. It’s not this hot spot of great theater. We were seeing a lot of musicals and ‘Oklahoma’ and things like that, but he sharing with us like, you know, Sam Shepherd and Tennessee Williams and all kinds of fresh dramatic theater. Not fresh then but gritty is I guess is the right word. Fresh in the sense that it wasn’t musical theater. And i just became—that was my inspiration really it’s what what really got into it. His teaching of taking risks is something that I still think about every day."
