STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Italian journalists read out loud the names of the colleagues who he been killed in Gaza, at a demonstration on Tuesday in Rome.
The protest was organised by the Italian Journalists Association and by Articolo 21 activists, who declared that 289 people who worked in media news outlets have been killed in Gaza.
"Because such a mass killing of journalists has never been seen before, because for the first time journalists are declared enemies, they must not enter Israel, they must not cross the Gaza crossing, because darkness is needed to complete the massacre," said Beppe Giulietti, spokesman of Articolo 21, an Italian advocacy for freedom of information.
"We are here to read the names of the murdered, but also to guarantee the freedom of information for all other journalists,” Giulietti added.
