13. SOUNDBITE (English) Harriet Reed, Curator of Contemporary Performance:
“As soon as you get involved with something to do with David Bowie, it’s obviously very exciting. There is a lot of material to look at and to study. The archive is an incredible treasure trove that spans his 50-year career. So for us, what was really exciting in particular was the comprehensiveness. It’s huge, it’s covering his 50-year career, but also the depth of it from, you know, sketches that he’s done, handwritten lyrics, costumes, instruments, even fan art, merchandise, props, set models, everything you could possibly associate with Bowie. He had assembled, he had collected, and he’d been an active archivist as well in his own collection.”

22. SOUNDBITE (English) Harriet Reed, Curator of Contemporary Performance:
“It’s a two-year cataloguing project, so every day we’re finding really interesting new stories, new discoveries, things that have never been on display before. But for me, I’m always really interested by the ephemera around Bowie’s process. So, we know how much he was involved in the design and the song writing and the producing and how he loved to be part of the entire journey of an album or a project. But the sort of notes he made, the to-do list, things where he’s making a record of the exhibitions he wants to see, the films he wants to see, books he wants to read, that kind of devouring of culture is really fascinating to know why he was so restlessly creative.”
