Shipping accounts for three percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, and the industry has increased its investment in alternative marine fuels. Japan’s largest shipping company, NYK, has achieved a breakthrough in the development of green ammonia with the tugboat Sakigake, the world’s first commercially operating ammonia-powered vessel. On Bloomberg Chief Future Officer, NYK CFO Akira Kono takes Shery Ahn aboard the boat and explains how biofuel research and development is central to the company’s sustainability program.
