Hopes of finding surviving Israeli hostages are diminishing | DW News

Protesters in Israel have been calling for the hostages’ release and an end to the war in Gaza. According to the Hamas-run health ministry in the Gaza Strip, around 65,000 people have been killed in the war. Last week, the Israeli army ramped up its ground offensive in Gaza City, which it says is the last stronghold of Hamas, and hostages are also believed to be being held there. Of the 48 remaining abductees, around 20 are thought to be alive. But their relatives believe that chances of finding them alive are diminishing by the day.
