U.S. President Donald Trump addressed world leaders gathered for the U.N. General Assembly debate, using his speech to criticize the organization and question its purpose. Trump’s message stood in stark contrast to those of the other speakers gathered for the 80th anniversary of the UN’s founding. Opening the debate, UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned of worsening conflicts around the world and called on nations to work together to overcome threats.
Over the next week, more than 100 speeches are scheduled under the theme "Better Together."
