"Yeah, I wanted it to feel, I mean, some people would perhaps be confused by, ‘oh, the eras and the mixes,’ but when you find a box of family photographs, unless you have very organised relatives, the era’s go all over the place, and so what I wanted to do is reflect that, like, one minute you have a 70s dagger collar and then you have a 1940s curl in the hair. And then you find a bride from the Victorian period, and then a little schoolboy from the 40s, and it had to feel that way for me, this complete eclecticism of eras, and that’s why it’s almost an anthology of ideas."

"I think it’s the reason that we, and I use we because there’s a lot people supporting me in terms of collaborators or interns. But yeah, the reason we have a studio and the reason that I can survive just about is the support from the kind of celebrity dressing. And I chose quite early on to try and action a hire only system where instead of lending to everyone for free, we actually try and get some rental on the garments. And actually that accounts for 50% of my business revenue now is actually rentals and hires. And not just doing everything for everyone for free, but finding a way to build a business out of that. Of course Madonna and Gaga, they’ll still get it for free. Because you want that moment and it brings you another level of support and belief."

STORYLINE:
Young designer Maximilian Raynor showed his latest collection as part of London Fashion Week.
Raynor said he was inspired by an eclectic disorganised box of family photos, an "eclecticism of eras" and "anthology of ideas."
He made his debut last year, and partly attributes his success to the likes of Madonna and Lady Gaga wearing his designs.
