3. SOUNDBITE (English) Crystal Herman, attendee from Lansing, Missouri:
“Charlie Kirk is a huge, impactful figure. I think that this is gonna change things and I think he made such a difference – he deserves us to be here. And just gathering with like-minded people, I think, is important for him. That’s why we’re here.
Reporter: “What do you think of the turnout today?”
Herman: “I expected it, so I’m very pleased. I expect there’s going to be a lot more than what they think.”
Reporter: “Why do you say that?”
Herman: “I don’t think people realize how important he is to us or was to us. So, I don’t think people realize the impact that he made and how his loss has affected people. I’ve been crying for a week, and I never met him, and I feel like I lost my brother.”

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Mike Link, attendee from Sacramento, California:
“It’s amazing. I mean, this is like the longest line I’ve ever seen; like the most police presence I’ve ever seen. I mean, security is tight here. Like, everyone feels safe and just a great environment to be out here today.”

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Mike Link, attendee from Sacramento, California:
“I think he spoke more than just politics but on like what we believe, like on our morals and he spoke for us and now that he’s gone it’s like, who’s gonna speak for us now? And that, you know, really hurts.”

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Tamaka Perez (and her daughter Blessing), attendee from Gilbert, Arizona:
“We are here for Charlie. We really just are here to support him and just support his belief in Jesus Christ and what he did for our nation and continues to do. We just want to serve the Lord and just help whatever way we can. And we’re here. We came in late but we’re here to just help and be part of the community of Christ.”

12. SOUNDBITE (English) Tamaka Perez (and her daughter Blessing), attendee from Gilbert, Arizona:
“We’ve been able to see, you know, RFK at one of the events and, I’ve been, the president, as well. So, we’ve been to a few events for Turning Point, and so just getting to be here for that just to support him and just see where it goes, just, you know, just love on the community.”

STORYLINE:
Thousands of mourners gathered at a stadium in Arizona to pay tribute to late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The memorial service Sunday drew a large crowd to hear from President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other prominent figures.
Members of the public began lining up outside State Farm Stadium before dawn to secure a spot, several hours before the start of the service.
Kirk was killed this month at a Utah college, and his assassination has sparked debates about violence and free speech. He founded Turning Point, a group that played a significant role in Trump’s political success.
Crystal Herma and her dog Diesel traveled all the way from Lansing, Michigan, because “he deserves us to be here.”
Mike Link, 29, also traveling with his dog and his father on a trip to Pensacola, Florida from Sacramento, California, decided to make the stop to pay their respects.
