"Dress, dreams and desire is about fashion and psychoanalysis. The first half is a kind of cultural history of the changes in psychoanalysis since Freud invented it. And then the second and more exciting room, I think, is about interpretations of different key concepts in psychoanalysis, like the skin ego or the mirror stage".

"We often talk about fashion as a second skin. But usually by that we mean that it’s super tight and sexy or has something to do with identity politics. But if you look at it cycle analytically, there are many ways in which clothing acts as a protective skin. It can be holding you like a hug. It can be protecting you like armor. It could have inscriptions of meaning, whether it’s a logo or an actual message T-shirt.
And it can be sexualizing either by framing bits of the naked body or by emphasizing, say, the curves or the muscles of the body".
