1. Yesterday, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping concluded his state visit to Vietnam. This was Xi’s first overseas visit this year and the first stop of his visit to three Southeast Asian countries, attracting significant international attention. From April 14 to 15, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Vietnamese government. This was Xi’s fourth visit to Vietnam in ten years and his first overseas visit this year. During the visit, Xi held talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Su Lin, met with Vietnamese President Liang Qiang, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and met representatives of the China-Vietnam People’s Grand Gathering. The two party general secretaries jointly witnessed the signing of 45 bilateral cooperation documents and attended the launch ceremony of the China-Vietnam railway cooperation mechanism. The two sides also issued a joint statement on continuously deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and accelerating the construction of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. The visit was a complete success, bringing new vitality to the construction of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future and the development of socialist causes in both countries, injecting positive energy into regional and global prosperity and stability.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam and the "China-Vietnam Cultural Exchange Year," which has significant implications for the relationship between the two countries. During the visit, Xi proposed six important measures to deepen the construction of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future, emphasizing the need to enhance higher-level strategic mutual trust, build a more solid security barrier, expand higher-quality mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen broader public opinion ties, carry out closer multilateral cooperation, and achieve more positive maritime interactions. Both sides agreed to steadfastly advance the cause of China-Vietnam friendship, support each other in following the socialist path suited to their national conditions, elevate strategic mutual trust to a higher level, create a more pragmatic security cooperation pillar, and build a broader and deeper comprehensive cooperation framework based on China’s new productive forces and Vietnam’s new productive forces. They also agreed to consolidate the public opinion foundation of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future, carry out closer multilateral strategic cooperation, properly manage and resolve differences, and maintain the overall situation of China-Vietnam friendship.
2. Yesterday, Bloomberg quoted sources saying that China has asked domestic airlines to suspend the acceptance of Boeing-made jets. I have two questions: First, can the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirm this news? Second, even if China has not made such a decision, the cost of Boeing aircraft will rise significantly due to China’s counter-tariffs on the U.S. In this case, will China strengthen cooperation with Embraer, the world’s third-largest aircraft manufacturer?
