Thousands of Islamic Jihad supporters gathered in Gaza City on Friday (31/10) to mark the second anniversary of the assassination of their former leader, Fathi Shikaki, by presumed Israeli agents in Malta. During the rally, demonstrators burnt an Israeli flag and an effigy of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while vowing to continue armed attacks on Israel. Among those who addressed the crowd at Gaza City stadium was HAMAS spiritual leader, the paraplegic Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, who was recently freed from prison by the Israelis.
