"A few days ago, regarding bovine proteins in beef, the Chinese government stopped authorizing three hundred and ninety-five plants (from the United States). That means someone will need to supply the meat that was provided by the Americans. Brazil presents itself with a lot of willingness and capacity, and I am sure that we will be able to know how to occupy this space and be the main supplier."

"More than four million (degraded) hectares were incorporated into the productive system with technology in these two years. Just for you to have an idea, each year we incorporate the size of the productive area of Uruguay. So, answering your question, certainly gradually Brazil will be the (pillar) of food security not only for China but for all countries in the world."

STORYLINE:
As trade tensions between the United States and China intensify, Brazil is positioning itself as a potential global leader in food security.
The assessment came from Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, during a press conference following the BRICS agriculture ministers’ meeting on Thursday in Brasília.
The gathering brought together representatives from Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, India, and Iran, who discussed strategies for agricultural cooperation, sustainable development, land restoration, and ways to strengthen trade among member countries.
Fávaro emphasized Brazil’s growing role as a reliable food supplier, particularly in light of new demands from the Chinese market following Beijing’s recent decision to suspend beef imports from 395 U.S. processing plants.
