“At the moment when the Pope came to Sarajevo, this city was completely different. People were filled with mercy, with some sort of light. I live here, but I could not recognize those streets, that joy all over people’s faces. People were walking a long way towards the stadium where Pope was. That was a real blessing, and we all remember it with joy.”

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of people gathered at Sarajevo cathedral to pay their respects to the late Pope Francis.
Francis travelled to Bosnia on one of his first Papal trips in June 2015.
Pictures of the pope were placed on the walls of cathedral during the service, which was led by the retired archbishop of Bosnia, Cardinal Vinko Puljic.
Cardinal Puljic will travel to Rome to take part in the conclave, despite his ill health.
Faithful in Sarajevo say the late Pope made a large impact on Catholics during his 2015 visit, where over 100,000 pilgrims gathered for a holy mass at the Sarajevo football stadium.
